About Skilled Futures
A personal story behind a public mission.
Skilled Futures Initiative was founded by Jordan Lin to help young people see skilled careers clearly—and understand that there is more than one meaningful way to build a future.

Jordan Lin, Founder
The lesson began at home.
Jordan is a second-generation immigrant whose understanding of work, opportunity, and independence was shaped by his parents’ experience in America.
When his parents arrived, they faced the familiar challenges of starting over: unfamiliar systems, limited networks, financial pressure, and the responsibility of building stability for a family. Jordan’s father ultimately trained as an electrician. Over time, he developed his craft, earned the trust of customers, and built a company of his own.
Watching that journey gave Jordan a lasting respect for technical knowledge. The work demanded mathematics, judgment, safety, communication, persistence, and entrepreneurship. It created not only an income, but also independence and a durable place in the community.
Skilled work did more than provide a job for our family. It created confidence, ownership, and a future we could build ourselves.
Give young people the information, exposure, and confidence to consider skilled careers on their own terms.
